It takes a lot of work to constantly think about what you need to draw, how to draw it and what to draw it with. That is probably why I like (border-line love) this project since everything is already selected for me and I just need to draw it. This relates back to a talk I had with Luke on how painting white circles are strangely soothing. There is no thought process that goes into painting a white circle; the paint is white and the shape is a circle. Fat, small, big, or oval-ish it is all down to the basics of being a circle. This project that Luke had assigned is picking out from a pile one art material and one subject to draw. As you can probably tell from my photos I had the tendency to make my subjects into people since I really need help drawing faces. Even though there are some choices that you can make, having things pick out for you make creating work a lot simpler and less mind (blog)gling. (see what I did there haha)

  1. Finally! A lovely post from you! Now, was that really so hard?

Cute joke. NOW... I think you hit on something here, and that is that decision making in art making is a blockage point for you. Now, this is no surprise because it is a block point for a lot of people, but we're most concerned about you when we're discussing your particular situation.

So, you are looking for a meditative aspect in your art making - is this a true statement? Is a large component of art making for you the stopping of your thoughts?
